Silver Hearts Permanent Foster ProgramSilver Hearts Permanent Foster Program Welcome to Austin Boxer Rescue’s Silver Hearts program. This program is especially for those who can provide the special care for boxers which are older and or in need of hospice care. To adopt a dog through the Silver Heart’s program you must complete either the foster or adoption application process. The adoption fee is waved for the adoption of a dog in the Silver Heart’s program. Austin Boxer Rescue will continue to pay for the Silver Heart’s medical care as long as an Austin Boxer Rescue partnered veterinarian is used. The medical expenses covered through the Silver Heart’s program include:

Our Silver Heart DogsDaphani Daphani is a 7-8 year old female boxer who was surrendered to ABR when her owner died. She's about 50 lbs and has natural ears and tail. She has wonderful manners, she gets along with other dogs, she's housebroken, crate trained and leash trained. She's spayed and in great health except for a minor urinary tract infection, for which she took antibiotics and is pretty much over, and she's missing a couple teeth, which causes her tongue to stick out a bit. Quinn Quinn is around 7 years old and although he is deaf, he is very confident and not easily startled. Quinn loves being around people more than anything in the world. He is affectionate and loves to play! Quinn does best with large dogs and is not well suited for a home with small dogs or cats. Because he is deaf, Quinn should not be placed in a home with young children.

Pat Benatar Meet Pat Benetar! Pat is a gorgeous fawn and white pocket-sized Boxer who weighs in at around 43 pounds. Pat is a low-energy girl who is housebroken, crate-trained, good on a leash, and overall is very well-behaved. She loves cuddling, hanging out with her family, and short bouts of playtime with her toys. She also enjoys the company of other dogs.

We prefer to put older dogs directly into foster homes as this will make them more comfortable and avoid kennels. Mariette Mariette is a very happy girl, she loves dogs, cats, and people. She will display the Boxer wiggle everytime she is happy which is pretty much all the time. Zero Meet Zero! Despite his name he is anything but a zero! He is believed to be around 8 years old and is described as an older "gentleman". He is a gorgeous fawn color and has beautiful, long legs. When he first came to his foster, he was malnourished and his back legs did not seem to work very well. With lots of love and a little time he has progressed so much! Pac Man If you are looking for a low-energy, sweet, lovable, silly old guy with a heart of gold, Pacman might be your guy! Pacman has NO idea that he is "up in years" (12 years young)! While his favorite activity may SEEM to be napping, don't let that fool you! The cost involved in caring for one of our Silver Hearts dogs include medication, vet visits, special diets, heart worm preventative, heart worm treatment, vaccinations, and the euthansia procedure when quality of life has diminished. |
