Silver Hearts Permanent Foster Program

Silver Hearts Permanent Foster Program

Welcome to Austin Boxer Rescue’s Silver Hearts program. This program is especially for those who can provide the special care for boxers which are older and or in need of hospice care. To adopt a dog through the Silver Heart’s program you must complete either the foster or adoption application process. The adoption fee is waved for the adoption of a dog in the Silver Heart’s program. Austin Boxer Rescue will continue to pay for the Silver Heart’s medical care as long as an Austin Boxer Rescue partnered veterinarian is used.

The medical expenses covered through the Silver Heart’s program include:

  • 3 year Rabies
  • Distemper / Parvo
  • Medications for pain or comfort
  • Heartworm Prevention
  • Flea Prevention during the summer months
  • Euthanasia at the end of the dogs life
  • Final disposition of the remains per ABR policy

We invite you to consider all that Silver Heart dogs have to offer:

  • Older dogs are house trained.
  • Older dogs are not easily excitable.
  • Older dogs understand “no”.
  • Older dogs have developed personalities.
  • Older dogs sleep through the night.
  • Older dogs have lots of love to give.

These dogs are supported by your donations. Without donations from you, this program couldn't exist. Thank you.

Our Silver Heart Dogs

Daphani
Daphani is a 7-8 year old female boxer who was surrendered to ABR when her owner died. She's about 50 lbs and has natural ears and tail. She has wonderful manners, she gets along with other dogs, she's housebroken, crate trained and leash trained. She's spayed and in great health except for a minor urinary tract infection, for which she took antibiotics and is pretty much over, and she's missing a couple teeth, which causes her tongue to stick out a bit. She's so sweet, very calm, and her tail never stops wagging. She is going to make someone a...Read More
Quinn
Quinn is around 7 years old and although he is deaf, he is very confident and not easily startled. Quinn loves being around people more than anything in the world. He is affectionate and loves to play! Quinn does best with large dogs and is not well suited for a home with small dogs or cats. Because he is deaf, Quinn should not be placed in a home with young children. Quinn is already house-trained and crate-trained. He still needs a little work on his leash manners and some basic obedience skills. Austin Boxer Rescue will pay for his new...Read More
Pat Benatar
Meet Pat Benetar! Pat is a gorgeous fawn and white pocket-sized Boxer who weighs in at around 43 pounds. Pat is a low-energy girl who is housebroken, crate-trained, good on a leash, and overall is very well-behaved. She loves cuddling, hanging out with her family, and short bouts of playtime with her toys. She also enjoys the company of other dogs. Pat Benetar has been in rescue for almost a year and is now part of our Silver Hearts program. Why, you ask? Pat Benetar has had several x-rays and there is a slight abnormality in two of the...Read More
Bing Crosby
I am BING CROSBY. I am supposedly about 10 years old. But people tell me that if it weren't for the premature grey hair on my face you would think I am 4. (My foster parents are thinking about a little hair coloring to give people the correct impression. ) I can run with any dog out there. I LOVE to go on walks. I still pull a little or a lot depending on the next smell drifiting my way. I can walk as far as my 2 year old step sister Emma. I am potty trained in fact my...Read More
Ukelele

Mariette
Mariette is a very happy girl, she loves dogs, cats, and people. She will display the Boxer wiggle everytime she is happy which is pretty much all the time. Her favorite thing to do is to play with the bounciest dog in her foster home. She is truly a JOY to have and would make a GREAT addition into any family home. When her foster family is not home she is crated (make sure both locks are locked or she will get out) and when they are home she spends time playing or hanging out on the sofa with the...Read More
Zero
Meet Zero! Despite his name he is anything but a zero! He is believed to be around 8 years old and is described as an older "gentleman". He is a gorgeous fawn color and has beautiful, long legs. When he first came to his foster, he was malnourished and his back legs did not seem to work very well. With lots of love and a little time he has progressed so much! Zero is currently fattening up and his legs are doing better. His foster says that there are times when he does lose his balance if he is playing...Read More

Pac Man
If you are looking for a low-energy, sweet, lovable, silly old guy with a heart of gold, Pacman might be your guy! Pacman has NO idea that he is "up in years" (12 years young)! While his favorite activity may SEEM to be napping, don't let that fool you! He still trots around the yard and tempts his foster’s 10 month old female boxer to play by pawing at her then running away to start a game of chase. She's a bit too rough for him though, so play time is monitored closely and never allowed to get out of...Read More
