How YOU Can Help!

Holiday fundraisers are an integral part of ABR’s financial health and we need help staffing shifts  We have several options in various locations throughout the Central Texas Area for Gift Wrapping at Barnes & Noble and Pictures with Santa at Pet Smart.

We kindly ask that you do not sign up for these shifts unless you are already affiliated with Austin Boxer Rescue as a volunteer, adopter, or foster (friends and families of the forementioned may sign up for shifts with that person as long as they are committed to doing the shift).   If you would like to get involved with ABR and are not already, please fill out a volunteer or adoption/foster application at www.austinboxerrescue.com .     We always welcome new people getting involved with ABR!

Please do not sign up for a shift unless you are committed to being there and have checked your schedule to make sure you are available for the shift to which you are committing.    We have a contract with these businesses to staff these shifts and it is very difficult to find replacements at the last minute. 

***Please note that by committing to this shift on behalf of Austin Boxer Rescue you must comply with the standards set forth by the participating retailers.  Be sure to check your schedule and commit to making this a priority during the busy holiday season.  Please understand that if you don't show up for this shift or that if you cancel without adequate notice to find a replacement for this shift that your are jeopardizing ABR's ability to participate in this fundraiser in the future***

More information will follow for those who sign up, but the following is a short descriptions of what is involved in being a volunteer for this function:

Giftwrapping at Barnes & Noble:  We need two volunteers for each shift.  Barnes and Noble will have a table set up with chairs and gift wrapping supplies.   Cashiers inform customers that there is gift wrapping available and and that we are collecting donations for our organization.    We have a donation box & ABR information on the table and try to educate the customers about ABR while we wrap their purchases.    

Petsmart Pictures With Santa:  We need one male to play Santa and two other helpers per shift.  Volunteers need to be at Petsmart by about 10:15 a.m. to allow for set-up, training, and Santa to get dressed.  Petsmart supplies the Santa Suit and all equipment for the pictures.  “Santa” poses for pictures with the pets of customers, who pay $10 per picture ($5.00 from each picture goes to ABR).   The other two volunteers take the pictures, put them in the frame, etc.   Shifts end at 4:00 p.m.

Our next AUSTIN ADOPTION DAY will be Saturday May 26, 2012 at TA Brown Elementary: 505 W. Anderson Lane from 10 am to 12 pm. We can be found on the Southwest corner of the park, at the intersection of Guadalupe St and Northway Dr. - rain or shine

Our next SAN ANTONIO ADOPTION DAY will be May 12, 2012 at Petco DeZavala & Vance Jackson 12651 Vance Jackson Road San Antonio, TX 78230 from 2pm-5pm.

FOSTERS NEEDED
We need volunteers to help visit foster dogs until we can place them in their forever homes. Without fosters we can not accept dogs into our rescue. Please fill out our FOSTER APPLICATION if you are interested.
