Boxers and Boxsters- A Charity EventOn February 27th, the S2000 Club of America will be holding a high performance driving school event at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos, TX, to benefit Austin Boxer Rescue. This HPDE, which is open to drivers ranging from first-timers to highly experienced, will teach students better car control, driving habits, proper driving techniques, and track etiquette, all in a safe, yet exciting environment. Students will participate using their own street-legal cars (anything from economy cars to luxury sedans and exotics!) , and novice and less experienced students will receive in-classroom education as well as on-track instruction. This is a unique opportunity to learn to be a better, faster driver all while breaking NO laws! The event will be held at Harris Hill Road, which is a private, members-only track located only 25 minutes south of downtown Austin, just outside of San Marcos. The track itself is 1.8 miles of new asphalt, and there is a little bit of just about everything included in the 11 turns and 1.82 miles including increasing radius, decreasing radius, positive camber, negative camber (and one turn that has both within the same turn!), one long sweeper, several blind corners, and an 80-foot rise-and-fall in one turn. There are a lot of challenges present on this track, but our trained instructors are ready to teach you how to navigate and master them! H2R's first class facilities include a comfortable clubhouse and elevated observation deck, so there are You can see track maps and general information about the track here: www.harrishillroad.com Event registration will include breakfast and lunch, and the cost to participate is $170. Participants will need a helmet rated M or SA 2005 or newer and to have a safety tech inspection performed on their car within 30 days (using the school's provided form). Nearly all street legal cars can pass the safety tech inspection and would be acceptable for this (sorry, no trucks, SUVs, or other high profile vehicles), though convertibles are subject to specific roll protection standards; please ask if your car will meet these standards prior to registration! Registration will go online on January 19 at www.motorsportreg.com. Spectators are welcome and lunch (burger/chips/drink) can be purchased on site for $8 per person ($1 of this will go to ABR). Children are welcome but MUST BE under constant parental supervision. Due to past issues and damage done to the track facilities, unattended children and their parents will be asked to leave immediately with no questions asked. Directions to Harris Hill Road: From I-35, take exit 211 and proceed east. Turn right at the stop sign by the quarry, and turn right again a short time later at the water tower (Harris Hill Rd). The track entrance will be about 1/2 mile down on the left. Please don't hesitate to contact me, Sondra Sondregger, if you have any questions. I can be reached by email at lonestarsondra@gmail.com.
