UPDATE: Cal has now been in his foster home for two months, and as the pictures show, he has come such a long way in two short months!! Cal now weighs in at 64 lbs and probably still has another 5 lbs to gain to reach his ideal weight, but that will come after completing heartworm treatment. Cal does not realize he is 64 lbs though and sees himself as your basic lap dog who loves to lounge on the couch. He gets along great with his foster brothers, and he thoroughly enjoys attention from humans-kids are his specialty! He even snuggles up with the cats in his foster home! He is fully house and crate trained and is learning basic obedience commands. He is quite verbal and likes to 'talk' to his fosters and share his enthusiasm with his Boxer wiggle butt. Cal is progressing beautifully and will make a great addition to almost any home. Don't wait to long to meet this guy; he's a gem!

The photos of Cal pretty much tell you the story of his past -- neglect. He entered his foster home just after Christmas, and he's still not 100% healthy, so it's hard to define his personality just yet. What we can say is that he gets along great with the other Boxers in his foster home, and he doesn't pay attention to cats. At the moment he is fighting several infections including demodex mange and heartworms. Cal is also recovering from severe anemia caused by a case of hookworms. Despite the fact he must feel miserable, he has been a sweetheart! He is just so happy to have someone pay attention to him and pet his little body. What he craves most right now is love. Cal is crate trained and is working on his house training.

Despite how malnourished and skinny he is, Cal is still 55 lbs., so once he recovers and gains some weight back, he will be a formidable guy. His coat is starting to grow back, and once it fills in, he is going to be a looker as a flashy fawn. When he has a chance to recover a bit more, Cal will be neutered and undergo treatment for heartworms. Given a little TLC, Cal will undoubtly emerge into a fantastic and handsome Boxer who will make a great addition to his future forever home.

Heartworm Status: Positive
